Procter & Gamble Co. (P&G), a global leader in consumer goods, is investing in English as a business strategy for their Latin America offices. P&G’s human resource leadership approached ETS to help in measuring the level of English of its job recruits and employees in Latin America. Candidates who lack English communication skills now go through an English assessment and training course.
Currently P&G is using the TOEIC® Listening and Reading test for recruitment and training purposes in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela. By formally establishing the level of English proficiency of staff in their Latin America offices, P&G hopes to have better employee productivity, higher employee engagement and a greater ability to move their talent throughout the organization where it’s needed most.
